India e-Visa photo size and requirements
The India e-Visa application takes a square digital JPEG, not a printed photo. The government portal asks for at least 350 × 350 pixels and a file of 10 kB to 1 MB, with the full head visible from hair to chin. VisaPhoto exports a 600 × 600 pixel file for this upload.

Frequently asked questions
What size is an India e-Visa photo?
A square JPEG of at least 350 × 350 pixels and 10 kB to 1 MB. VisaPhoto exports 600 × 600 pixels, which fits within those limits.
Can I take my India e-Visa photo with my phone?
Yes, you can start from a clear phone selfie taken face-on in even light without filters. VisaPhoto turns it into a square portrait with a plain background and checks the framing.
What background colour is required?
Plain white or light coloured, with no pattern or shadows.
Can I wear glasses in an India e-Visa photo?
Tinted glasses and glare are not suitable. If you keep clear glasses on, make sure your eyes are fully visible; removing them avoids most problems.
Is the VisaPhoto file ready for the e-Visa portal?
VisaPhoto creates an AI-assisted portrait, checks its framing and image quality, and exports a square JPEG within the portal’s published size and file limits. It cannot promise acceptance, so review the result against the portal’s instructions before you submit.
